When your first night of weaning begins, make it clear what you are doing. Before bed, go ahead and breastfeed your little one before prefacing what the night is going to hold.

Depending on your child’s personality, the second night may be harder or easier than the first. For many children, the second night may start with crying, but have fewer wake-ups.

At this point, it may be tough for you to stay patient. But remember, your little one needs your understanding right now! Stay mindful of his needs, & continue to remark on how well he’s doing each morning.

If by night 4 or 5 things are still just as bad, you may be better off waiting just a few months and trying again.
